Who can run, and the rules
All non-sighthound breeds and mixes. Lurchers, longdogs and non-AKC sighthounds run on Sighthound days instead.
- Each hound gets up to 3 runs for its entry fee. The fastest of the three is its time for the season.
- No substitutions after the first run.
- Hounds may enter more than one event in a year; there are several ZASSC days each season.
- Minimum age is 12 months on the day. Lame hounds and bitches in season may not run.
- A squawker may be added if your hound runs muzzled.
- If more than 20 hounds enter, a waitlist forms from the paid entries. Drops are filled from the waitlist: first paid, first selected.
- The top three in each breed get certificates, and first place also wins the engraved medallion when 4 or more dogs of the breed ran that season. Every time is kept for good on the ZASSC record.
- Entries are made and paid online before entries close. There are no day-of or cash entries.
What to expect on the day
- Timed runs start at about . The track is the East Pasture straight: 200 yards, electric eyes at both ends.
- If it's above 70°F, cooling pools are out for the hounds.
- There's a port-a-pot on site.
- In hazardous weather we delay or cancel. Watch this page and the Facebook group on the day.
- No refunds for no-shows or cancellations after entries close.
